My Apologies for the simplicity of this map, but as I have discovered Map Making takes a lot of skill and I'm still learning.

But none the less, it should give you a basic idea of the lay of the land.

Covensteads holdings are the areas marked in darker green and extend a little to the east and west of what is shown on the map. To the North, in the area marked in lighter green is ElfTown Proper. And to the south is the "Lake of Dreams"

The road that marks the the top border of Covenstead is named "Ramblers Way" and leads to ElfTown in the east and unknown adventures in the west.

The streams that surround the center area of Covenstead have yet to be named.

The main area of Building will be in the center area of Covenstead, between the lake and the road to the north and south and the two streams to the east and west.

The lands to east and west will be left wild except for the natural footpaths that I am sure will be worn by those who enjoy more primitive environments.

2009-02-23 [moira hawthorne]: do members get to add what they like... like their home? and stuff?

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: That is what I was hoping, That we'd use this as a starting place and that it would take on shape as we went along. And though I haven't marked it yet I claim that little spot in the southwest where the lake and the creek meet for my place and the large semi circle at the farthest south near the center is the place I have reserved for that beachfront area we were talking about. Also I think that the gallery and a visitors inn and other such ammenities would make sense if they were built near the road at the North End. I also want to think of things like foot bridges to cross the streams and other pavillions and gathering spaces, like a main lodge, an indoor temple for bad weather, things like that so all the input I can get is more than welcome. Also you and anyone else who wants to make a stab at improving the map itself is invited to do so. We might also want to create one in a larger scale so that the names of places are readable. Either that or number things or create simple marks for each that correspond to a legend.

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: ok Im claiming my spot than... I think I may have gone over board... lol I got a little crazy adding things I love... Im not to good at scale... thats a mighty big beach!

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: Wonderful, I love that you added the Island and all the waterfront details

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: you approve than? you want to remove the top map than?... so we just keep adding to the newest version

if other people are better with scale and make adjustments... to the beach... I was gonna add docks and stuff... but I let other people do something with it first...

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: oooo yes I like the homes legend on its own separate colour... instead of floating in the lake... looks too much like more islands...

shall we be keeping all the former versions of maps on here?

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: I don't think so, but I want to keep them all for future reference. I think they would be useful for folk look at when they add their own bits and be an interesting bit of history in general. So I think a map archive would be in order.

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: sure ok...

but when the page get too long maybe we can <img100: the older versions... they'd still be in order but we could have them run across the page...

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: still workin on the Coventead's Map Archive huh?

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: Yep.......

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: I want to add a beaver pond and make the streams around my area not so similar

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: Very good, I love what you have been doing so far, so let your imagination fly.

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: with all the nature stuff... we needed some roddey people stuff... so added a bonfire down by the nakkid beach grove... and a quiet visitor or family or introspective one up by the gallery

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: You are really good at this, how would you like to be Covenstead's Director of Cartography, or Head Mapmaker, whichever you prefer.

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: THX U Raven1 *hugs* I can be Head Cartographer... but I still want everyone to add in their own input.. if they can... if they say they want 'such and such a feature' but cant draw it on the map themselves... b/c of program or equipment limitations.. Id be happy to help them

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: Ill likely keep shifting the Legend around to conserve space and make it follow the map itself so its easy on the eye...
